JAKARTADAILY.ID - Mall Pluit Junction in North Jakarta is undergoing a major transformation, with PT Jakarta Propertindo (Jakpro) spearheading renovations to convert the shopping center into EV Indonesia Center, the capital’s first electric vehicle hub.
"Mall Pluit is entering a renovation phase, meaning operations will be temporarily closed," said Dian Takdir Badrsyah, Director of Engineering and Development at Jakpro, on Sunday, May 10.
While the mall will shut down temporarily, the Fave Hotel within the same complex will remain operational.
Previously known as a community mall, Pluit Junction will return with a modernized concept, serving as a retail and educational center dedicated to Indonesia’s EV industry.
"Pluit Junction will re-emerge as EV Indonesia Center, a hub for retail and education supporting the national electric vehicle sector," Dian added.
The transformed space will feature EV showrooms, charging stations, after-sales service hubs, and family-friendly educational areas.
"These facilities are expected to create a new destination for consumers interested in electric mobility," Dian noted.
The initiative is part of Indonesia’s broader strategy to promote green transportation, aligning with the government’s target of deploying two million EVs by 2025.
Once a popular shopping destination in the early 2000s, Pluit Junction’s redevelopment symbolizes the country’s shift toward cleaner transportation alternatives.
